“Founders Day is a time to honor the founding of our institution. It is important as this is a time where New Mexico State University can come together and celebrate the things that make NMSU special and unique,” said Sonia White, multi-media specialist and chair of NMSU’s Employee Council.

This year, the Pan American Center will be commemorated for its 50th anniversary. Since 1968, the Pan Am has hosted thousands of athletic events as well as some of the top entertainers from around the world. The faculty, staff and students at NMSU, in addition to the community, have attended many events in the Pan Am and will continue to do so for years to come.

An award will be given to the two newest Aggie Legends, Barbara Hubbard, retired NMSU director of Special Events, and Mark Medoff, play writer, screenwriter, director and retired chair of the Drama Department at NMSU. Medoff died April 23 at the age of 79.

The “A” Mountain Staff award will also be presented during the celebration.

Food will be served starting at 11 a.m. This year there will be a nacho bar with award-winning salsa that is being provided by NMDA. At 11:30 a.m. the NMSU gospel choir will perform before the formal program begins at 12 p.m.
