NMSU Board of Regents to hold regular meeting Dec. 5

The Board of Regents of New Mexico State University will hold a regular meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the Regents Room of the Educational Services Building, 1780 E. University Ave., on the Las Cruces campus. The meeting is open to the public. In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, copies of the agenda will be made available at NMSU’s Zuhl Library on the Las Cruces campus at least 72 hours prior to the meeting and accessible on the public university website at https://regents.nmsu.edu/agenda/ .

In the mid-1980s archaeologists and students from New Mexico State University excavated a dozen ancient rock shelter sites in the southern part of the Organ Mountains. The most notable discovery from these excavations was nearly 200 corncobs, also known as maize, which seemed to represent at least five different varieties of corn – one of the specimens approximately 3,000 years old.
