NMSU’s TRIO program mentors students, celebrates outstanding graduate

When Alma Chavez walks across the stage during the fall commencement ceremony at New Mexico State University Saturday, Dec. 9, it will be a celebration for the Juarez, Mexico, native, who was selected as the outstanding graduate for the College of Arts and Sciences.

A TRIO Student Support Services program participant while at NMSU, Chavez will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, psychology and Spanish.

Zuhl Museum open Saturday

The newly renovated and expanded Zuhl Museum will be open from 12 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. Discover the vast collection of fossils, petrified wood and rock and mineral wonder. Located inside the NMSU Alumni Visitor’s Center at 775 College Dr.

Retirement reception for Joyce Bradley Monday at DACC

Join us in bidding farewell to Joyce Bradley who has served as director for the Emergency Medical Services program at DACC and as an adjunct instructor since 1993. Bradley's retirement reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the DACC East Mesa Campus, Student Resources Building, Office Suite DASR 220.

Rockstar energy drinks for just 50¢ one day only

Today only, and while supplies last, all Rockstar energy drinks are just 50¢ apiece at the Corbett Corner convenience store located on the west end of Corbett Center Student Union. As a reminder, both Corbett Corner and Aggie Express will close for the entire Winter Break for restructuring. The Marketplace convenience store inside Barnes & Noble at NMSU will remain open, however. View its winter hours at https://dining.nmsu.edu/hours/.

Carlos Lobato appointed NMSU’s chief privacy officer

Carlos Lobato, NMSU IT compliance officer, has been appointed the university chief privacy officer. Lobato has been leading the effort to ensure that NMSU complies with the federal and state data privacy regulations and laws. He will work with, and seek the assistance of, relevant entities around NMSU to develop appropriate rules and procedures as they relate to data privacy. The initial phase entails the establishment of a comprehensive data privacy program for the NMSU system. For more info refer to http://privacy.nmsu.edu/.
