ESPANOLA, N.M. - New Mexico State University agricultural specialists will provide the latest information in their fields to farmers and ranchers during the free Northern Pueblos Agricultural Day, which will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Santa Claran Hotel and Casino Events Center, 460 N. Riverside Drive, Espanola.
"This event is to bring agricultural professionals and specialists to provide Northern New Mexico producers with the latest information to benefit their agricultural operation," said Charlene Carr, NMSU's Eight Northern Pueblos agricultural agent.
"The event is hosted by the Pueblo of Santa Clara, NMSU Cooperative Extension Service's Northern New Mexico Outreach Program and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Advocacy and Outreach to help beginning and socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers."
NMSU agricultural specialists and USDA agents will present information on animal identification requirements, livestock health, composting, alfalfa and mixed hay production, and USDA resources.
A free lunch will be provided; pre-register for the meal by Oct. 21. Call Carr, at 505-852-2668, to register.
