The New Mexico State University Rodeo Team will host their annual intercollegiate rodeo April 26-28 at the NMSU Student Tailgate Lot, east of Aggie Memorial Stadium.
More than 10 universities from New Mexico and Arizona will participate and perform in the rodeo. Performances also include Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association 2012 Clown of the Year Justin Rumford and the NMSU Rodeo Team.
"The NMSU rodeo is full of action, outstanding student athletes and great entertainment," said Jim Brown, NMSU rodeo team coach. "It's a highly talented program."
The main rodeo performances begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and will be open to the public. The champion performance will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets will be on sale for $5 to the general public. Admission is free for students with a valid NMSU ID.
There will also be three performances featuring the award winning bucking stock from the Harry Vold Rodeo Company. Based in southern Colorado, the company produces rodeos in seven states annually and also provides bucking stock for over 100 rodeo performances each year.
The NMSU men rodeo team is currently ranked first in the region and holds the top two regional spots in men's all around. The women are ranked fifth in the region.
