Honor society honors outstanding students

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi will hold a reception to honor this year's Gerald Thomas Outstanding Junior Award recipients at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the Dona Ana Room of Corbett Center on the New Mexico State University campus.


Christine Marlow, associate dean of the Graduate School, will be the guest speaker. The reception is open to the public.

The award recipients were selected by their respective college based on their academic performance. The honorees are:

-- Janelle Duffey, of Roswell, N.M., representing the College of Agriculture.

-- Jesse Allred, of Las Cruces, representing the College of Arts and Sciences.

-- John W. Burke, of Carlsbad, N.M., representing the College of Business.

-- Delia Arzapalo, of Las Cruces, representing the College of Education.

-- Anita Carrasco, of Los Lunas, N.M., representing the College of Engineering.

-- Matthew Peter Yeager, of El Paso, representing the College of Health and Social Services.

Phi Kappa Phi is an honor society devoted to recognizing and promoting academic excellence within all fields of higher education.
