Barbara Wise, the major gifts officer for New Mexico State University's College of Agriculture and Home Economics has been awarded the Certified Fund Raising Executive designation by CFRE International.
"I'm honored to receive this designation," said Wise. "I think it's reflective of a lot of hard work and the experience I've gained working in the College of Agriculture and Home Economics." Wise is responsible for handling donations, endowments and other gifts given to CAHE.
Those granted the CFRE credential meet a series of standards including tenure in the profession, education, demonstrating fundraising achievement and a commitment to service to not-for-profit organizations. Candidates must pass a rigorous written exam testing the knowledge, skills and abilities required of a fundraising executive.
"The CFRE process was developed as a way to identify for the public and employers those individuals who possess the knowledge, skills and commitment to perform fundraising duties in an effective, conscientious, ethical and professional manner," said Andrew Day, chair of CFRE International. "Achievement of the CFRE credential demonstrates the level of commitment on the part of Barbara Wise to herself and the profession as a whole."
CFRE recipients are awarded certification for a three-year period. In order to maintain certification status, individuals must continue to demonstrate on-going fundraising employment, fundraising results and continue with their professional education.
