LAS CRUCES - Anna Perez-Wright began work April 3 as an assistant editor with New Mexico State University's agricultural communications department. She will oversee production of radio and television news programs for the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences .
"With her bilingual skills, she will help us broaden our reach into the Spanish language broadcast market," said Terry Canup, agricultural communications department head.
Before joining NMSU, Perez-Wright worked as a development associate for the Diocese of Las Cruces. Prior to that, she was the production operations coordinator for Del Valle Printing in Las Cruces.
"I like working with people and am looking forward to reaching out to communities all over New Mexico, especially by adding some Spanish programming to our efforts," Perez-Wright said.
She has a bachelor's degree from NMSU in journalism and mass communications with an emphasis in news writing/editing, photography and public relations. As a student, she gained experience as a reporter at the Las Cruces-Sun News and as a newswriter for NMSU's university communications department.
Perez-Wright also has experience working as a production assistant and script writer for KRWG-TV's annual fund-raising event, Auction Ole, and serving as vice president for special events on the Board of Trustees for NMSU's American Southwest Theater.
She is active in the community through the Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces and the Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.
