LAS CRUCES - Six fishery and wildlife sciences students at New Mexico State University will receive scholarships for the 2000-2001 academic year from Dona Ana County Associated Sportsmen.
V.W. Howard, chair of the association's scholarship committee and retired NMSU wildlife professor, announced the $9,000 worth of scholarships. The association has 21 members and supports wildlife and fishery conservation efforts.
Graduate students Brian Hurd of Chama and Samuel Smallidge of Las Cruces will both receive $750 per semester.
Clay Courtright, a senior from Corbett, Ore., will receive $1,000 per semester. Ian Tator, a junior from Dulce, and Richard Suarez, a senior from Las Cruces, will both receive $800 per semester. Aaron Jones, a senior from Chama, will receive $800 for the fall semester.
