LAS CRUCES -- Homeowners can learn the basics of passive solar home design during a two-hour seminar Feb. 24 in Mountainair.
The seminar, sponsored by New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service and the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, will educate participants on energy efficiency in home design, advantages of solar heating and types of passive solar applications. Sun angles, thermal mass and solar cooling also will be discussed.
The workshop will feature Michael Cormier, a passive solar home builder and energy educator.
The session runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hummingbird Cafe in Mountainair. Registration is $5 per person before Feb. 16 and $6 thereafter. For more information, contact Marilyn Mignery at (505) 384-2416.
