Home Ownership Seminar Scheduled May 4 in Luna County

LAS CRUCES -- Are you considering buying a new home? Will you be able to make the monthly payments? What type of mortgage is best for you? Interested home buyers can get answers to these and other questions by attending a home ownership program May 4 in Deming.

HomeOwner$hip, a free home buyer's seminar, is sponsored by New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service and Rural Economic and Community Development (formerly FmHA).

The seminar addresses such issues as home affordability and obtaining a mortgage, and demonstrates the amount of money saved in monthly payments by putting more down in closing. Susan Wright, NMSU Extension consumer education specialist, will present "Are You Ready to Buy a Home?" and "What is Closing All About?"

JoAnn Emmel, Extension energy specialist, will discuss "What to Look for in a House." Robin Mack, Extension home economist, will talk about how to take care of a new home.

The seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Rural Economic and Community Development (RECD) office at 405 E. Florida in Deming. Refreshments will be served.

To pre-register or for more information, call Dave Robertson in Deming at (505) 546-8885 or Susan Wright in Las Cruces at (505) 646-3306.
