Winter Wine Festival Features Wine Tasting, Fine Dining

LAS CRUCES--Some of the world's finest wines will be available during the annual Winter Wine Festival Jan. 19-27 in Taos.

"Nearly 30 world-class wineries and 25 restaurants and hotels will participate in this year's Winter Wine Festival," said Mike Cook with New Mexico State University's Rural Economic Development Through Tourism (REDTT) project. "This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy some of the finest wining and dining in the state, plus enjoy the incredible beauty of the Taos area in the winter."

REDTT, a program of NMSU's Cooperative Extension Service, promotes agriculture through tourism.

The nine-day event includes wine tastings, gourmet dinners, seminars on wine making and a silent auction to benefit the New Mexico Nature Conservancy.

Dinners and wine tastings will be held at restaurants throughout the Taos area. Seminars and the festival's finale "Taste of Taos", will be held at the Taos Ski Valley Resort Center.

Prices vary for each event held during the festival. For more information, call (505) 766-2291 or click on Winter Wine Fest at http://taoswebb.com/skitaos.
