LAS CRUCES - Carlsbad's Annual Christmas on the Pecos will feature pontoon boats piloted by members of the Carlsbad Navy. The event will be held Nov. 25 through Dec. 31 on the Pecos River.
"Christmas on the Pecos is one of the most unusual and memorable excursions you will ever take," said Mike Cook, director of the Rural Economic Development Through Tourism (REDTT) project.
Participants will take a three and one-half mile tour down the river, viewing the holiday lights of homes along the bank. Tours are expected to begin at 5:45 each evening and are $7 per person.
"There are millions of lights decorating more than 100 homes along the river," Cook said. "Many of the lighted displays feature sound and movement, including a railroad train and even some dolphins."
REDTT, a project of NMSU's Cooperative Extension Service, promotes agriculture through tourism.
