"I was thrilled," Dorfman said. "This is a wonderful thing to happen at this time in my career. It's a real honor to have this designation."

Dorfman has been with NMSU for more than 30 years and currently teaches human resource management and general organizational behavior. He was a Fulbright Scholar in New Zealand last year and held the Robert O. Anderson distinguished professorship at NMSU from 1991 to 1997.

The Bank of America professorship was made possible by a donation to New Mexico State University. It will allow Dorfman to further his research and writing for the Global Leadership Organizational Behavioral Effectiveness (GLOBE) project. GLOBE is a research effort started in 1994 to look at leadership and cultures around the world. Dorfman is on GLOBE's board of directors and is working on the group's third book. The previous two books have won national awards.

"Peter Dorfman is top notch. He is a prolific writer and is nationally and internationally recognized for the work he does," said Garrey Carruthers, business dean and vice president for economic development.

Dorfman earned his Ph.D. at the University of Maryland and previously taught at Montana State University and Rice University.
