NMSU now a featured iTunes U university

It just got easier for people around the world to find New Mexico State University and learn more about what it has to offer. Beginning this month, NMSU on iTunes U is now featured in the iTunes store.

"We are happy that the unique characteristics of NMSU are being recognized along side more popularly known universities such as Yale and Berkeley," said Sharon Lalla, instructional technology manager at NMSU.

iTunes U allows universities from around the country to use the iTunes network to deliver videos, podcasts and other educational information to anyone with a computer and an Internet connection. New Mexico State officially unveiled its iTunes U site in February and is the first university in the state to be included in the iTunes U section of the iTunes store.

"NMSU on iTunes U represents a collaborative effort to promote and share intellectual content with a peppering of NMSU style," Lalla said. "Being accepted as an iTunes university allows us to promote worldwide NMSU and New Mexico and share intellectual content through single access or free subscription."

Some of NMSU's most popular downloads include information on the university's MBA program and multiple food safety and nutrition videos.

NMSU faculty and staff can post content into various categories in NMSU on iTunes U. Students can submit podcasts through faculty and sponsored departments. Links on the NMSU on iTunes U site take users looking for more information to specific NMSU Web sites.

The university is currently working to build its academic content. Instructors are encouraged to use the application to deliver additional information to students. The university has iTunes U training courses available.

The project is a partnership between NMSU Information and Communication Technologies, the College of Extended Learning and University Communications Media Productions. The public is encouraged to visit http://itunes.nmsu.edu to find more information.
