The New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service viticulture program will host a wine marketing seminar from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Sandia Courtyard Hotel and Convention Center, 10300 Hotel Ave. NE, in Albuquerque. This event coincides with the 28th Annual New Mexico Wine and Vine conference the following day.
The seminar will feature Elizabeth Slater from California, who is internationally known in the wine industry as a seminar and workshop leader, a speaker and trainer. She will cover various marketing topics in her seminar titled, "What do your tasting room and wine club customers want?" Slater will take a look at marketing plans, using the Internet to market, selling and staff training techniques, and customer retention.
"This type of marketing is important to our people in New Mexico because a large share of wine sold is being sold in tasting rooms directly to the consumer," said Bernd Maier, NMSU's extension viticulture specialist.
