NMSU helps sponsor Navajo Nation Equine Expo in Window Rock

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. - A horse can be a rancher's best friend, if they are taken care of so they have good health. The latest information on equine health care, including nutrition, dentistry and hoof maintenance, will be among the topics at the annual Navajo Nation Equine Expo, Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, at the Window Rock Fairground - 4-H Pavilion.


The event is being sponsored by New Mexico State University, Dine College, University of Arizona, Fort Dodge, and Double D Vet Services.

Friday's activities will begin at 1:15 p.m. after registration at noon. Presentations will include information on hay selection and quality, equine identification and horse training skills.

There will be concurrent demonstrations in equine dentistry, hoof care and shoeing, equine training and first aid on Saturday morning and afternoon.
