The New Mexico State University Alumni Association has chosen seven NMSU students as Outstanding Seniors and three Dona Ana Branch Community College students as Outstanding Graduates.
Each semester, the Alumni Association selects an outstanding senior from each of the university's undergraduate colleges, one international senior and three outstanding Dona Ana Branch students. The selection is based on scholarship, leadership and participation.
This fall's Outstanding Seniors are Jessica Rocks of Las Cruces, a business computer systems major from the College of Business Administration and Economics; Hayley Encinias of Corrales, N.M., an animal science major from the College of Agriculture and Home Economics; Jennifer Archibeque of Tijeras, N.M., a College of Arts and Sciences double major in journalism and mass communication and language and linguistics; Tara Sauble of Maxwell, N.M., an elementary educational major from the College of Education; Alexis Stanke of Albuquerque, a mechanical engineering major from the College of Engineering; Dwight (Doug) Olson of Roswell, N.M., a nursing major from the College of Health and Social Services; and Takashi Yamaguchi of Osaka, Japan, a hotel, restaurant and tourism management major from the College of Agriculture and Home Economics.
Outstanding graduates from Dona Ana Branch are Mary Clevenger of Las Cruces, a computer technology student; Melanie Galt of Las Cruces, a water technology student; and Chief Petty Officer Robert Ross of Whites Sands Missile Range, who will receive an undesignated associates degree.
The seven outstanding seniors will be recognized at a pre-commencement buffet to be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Corbett Center Ballrooms.
