NMSU Art Gallery kicks off 25th anniversary exhibition

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will kick off its 25th anniversary exhibition featuring three exhibits which run Jan. 22 through Feb. 21.

The gallery will present Patricia Bellan-Gillen's "Spheres Of Influence," Fermin Gutierrez's "Travesias" and Miguel Gandert's "Indo-Hispano Spirituality." The gallery also will present a lecture by Bellan-Gillen at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21 in Williams Hall, Room 212.

Bellan-Gillen's "Sphere's Of Influence" is an exhibit that integrates symbolism and iconography from a variety of cultural and religious sources.

Gutierrez's "Travesias," which means "voyages," includes large paintings of color, dramatic use of light and explorations of the inner world of dreams.

Gandert's "Indo-Hispano Spirituality" is a series of photographs about tradition in contemporary Hispanic culture in New Mexico. His work includes religious rituals, gang life and family activities.

An opening reception for the exhibitions will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Art Gallery located in NMSU's Williams Hall. Refreshments will be served and all events are free to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays.
