NMSU Extension home economists host holiday craft extravaganza in five counties

Back by popular demand, a “Holiday Extravaganza: Make & Take Gift Event” will be hosted by New Mexico University Cooperative Extension Service home economists in five counties.

“This is a great way to get a head start on holiday gift-giving by creating some fabulous take-home crafts,” said Laura Bittner, Valencia County home economist.

A $10 participation fee covers the cost of all materials, refreshments and a booklet of all crafts and recipes to take home.

Home economists from Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, McKinley, Rio Arriba and Valencia counties will demonstrate an array of easy projects during the event. The Extension agents will take the extravaganza on the road, by hosting events in five counties.

Valencia County will be the first stop, 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Peralta Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, in Peralta. RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 505-565-3002.

Rio Arriba County will be next on Friday, Dec. 4, at the Hernandez Community Center, 19418 U.S. Hwy 85/285 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 505-685-4523.

Sandoval County will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at the county Extension office, 711 S. Camino del Pueblo, in Bernalillo. RSVP by Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 505-867-2582.

McKinley County will host the extravaganza in Gallup on Thursday, Dec. 10, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jim Harlin Community Pantry, 1130 E. Hasler Road. RSVP by Monday, Dec. 7, at 505-863-3432.

The final event will be in Shiprock, Thursday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the NMSU Tribal Extension office across from Shiprock Navajo Tribal Utility Authority. RSVP by Friday, Dec. 11, at 505-368-3976.
