NMSU to host building dedication ceremony honoring Charles Strickland Jr.

Four generations of the Strickland family have been invited to a naming ceremony to rename New Mexico State University’s Central Plant in honor of Charles Strickland Jr.

The ceremony will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the utility plant, 3060 Sweet St. During the ceremony, the plant will be renamed the Charles Strickland Central Utilities Plant.

Strickland served as NMSU’s Physical Plant director for 45 years, from 1911 to 1956. In honor of his decades-long service to the university, the Strickland Award was created in 1997 to recognize those who have rendered exceptional service to the Office of Facilities and Services.

“Over the past year, many employees have been honored to receive the Strickland Award,” said Glen Haubold, associate vice president for facilities and services at NMSU.

Refreshments will be provided at the ceremony. For more information, contact Priscilla Carabajal at 575-646-1252 or priscar@nmsu.edu
